Skarabeus (scarab in english) was a holy dung-beetle for egyptians. Egyptians saw a similarity in scarabs behaviour of rollig dung-balls and sun's trip over the sky. Egyptian sungod Ra was often depicted as a scarab, representing early morning sun Khepri.I wrote Skarabeus as a story in highshool several years ago and I did it for fun. I was obsessed with egyptian culture and mythology (I even started learning hieroglyphs on my own). I thought that the hero of my story must be a tortured mummy.I also decided, that my story must contain a higher moral and I chose punishing greed. Then, hardly a year went by and I started thinking of putting the story into a comic-form. I started drawing in summer 2001 and the comic was finished half year later. It was my first serious comic.

Well, some years have passed and as I lost my job last year, I got lots of free time I had to fill. So I picked up my old comic from my drawer, I read it again and decided, that it needs a little tweaking in the story. It has been an old dream of mine - to get this thing between nice covers. How to do it was something, I didn't know years ago and still didn't know. Actually it all was quite simple, all I had to do was to get started and all possibilities opened themselves.
As a little secret I can say, that I have also finished a script for the sequel. OK, I have to correct myself, actually it is a prequel about king Tehut and his story. It tells how pharaoh becomes a cursed mummy. And looking into the future, I plan to draw also a third story in Skarabeus series. I'm not quite sure, about that story but I guess I have to tie up some loose ends.
